چکیده

Mathematical models are used to determine if infection wave fronts could occur by traveling geographically in a loop around a region or continent. These infectionwave fronts arise by Hopf bifurcation for some spatial models for infectious disease transmission with distributed-contacts. Periodic traveling waves are shown to exist for the spatial analog of the SIRS endemic model, in which the temporary immunity is described by a delay, but they do not exist in a similar spatial SIRS endemic model without a delay. Specifically, we found that the ratio of the delay ω in the recovered class and the average infectious period 1/γ must be sufficiently large for Hopf bifurcation to occur. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. On Traveling Wave Solutions of the Θ−class of Dispersive Equations

We investigate traveling wave solutions to a class of dispersive models – the θ-equation of the form ut − utxx + uux = θuuxxx + (1− θ)uxuxx, including two integrable equations, the Camassa-Holm equation (θ = 1/3) and the Degasperis-Procesi equation(θ = 1/4) as special models. When 0 ≤ θ ≤ 1 2 , strong solutions of the θ-equation may blow-up in finite time, correspondingly, the traveling wave so...

Traveling Waves of Some Symmetric Planar Flows of Non-Newtonian Fluids

We present some variants of Burgers-type equations for incompressible and isothermal planar flow of viscous non-Newtonian fluids based on the Cross, the Carreau and the power-law rheology models, and on a symmetry assumption on the flow. We numerically solve the associated traveling wave equations by using industrial data and in order to validate the models we prove existence and uniqueness of ...

Invasion Generates Periodic Traveling Waves (Wavetrains) in Predator-Prey Models with Nonlocal Dispersal

Periodic Traveling waves (wavetrains) have been studied extensively in systems of reaction-diffusion equations. An important motivation for this work is the identification of periodic Traveling waves of abundance in ecological data sets. However, for many natural populations diffusion is a poor representation of movement, and spatial convolution with a dispersal kernel is more realistic because...

On Traveling Wave Solutions of the Θ-equation of Dispersive Type

Traveling wave solutions to a class of dispersive models, ut − utxx + uux = θuuxxx + (1− θ)uxuxx, are investigated in terms of the parameter θ, including two integrable equations, the Camassa-Holm equation, θ = 1/3, and the Degasperis-Procesi equation, θ = 1/4, as special models. It was proved in [H. Liu and Z. Yin, Contemporary Mathematics, 2011, 526, pp273–294] that when 1/2 < θ ≤ 1 smooth so...

Traveling Waves for the Whitham Equation

The existence of traveling waves for the original Whitham equation is investigated. This equation combines a generic nonlinear quadratic term with the exact linear dispersion relation of surface water waves of finite depth. It is found that there exist small-amplitude periodic traveling waves with sub-critical speeds. As the period of these traveling waves tends to infinity, their velocities ap...
